So, on December 27, my husband had put together the hydroponics system that he got me for Christmas. Knowing that I have a bunch of seeds, I initially sowed them in damp paper towels to sprout the seeds and then I carefully transferred them into the rockwool pods.

I have a total of 27 spaces in my tower so needless to say, anyone that knows me also knows that I needed to do some experimenting… for a roast I cooked for Christmas, I had purchased one of those ready to go containers of herb blends that contained thyme, rosemary, and sage. I am direct sowing thyme, but for rosemary and sage, I figured, let me give it a shot and see if I can propagate from this store-bought package that has been in the store for who knows how long. In addition, I took cuttings from my African Blue Basil, which is an amazing pollinator plant that I brought with me and am overwintering here in the house.

Oh how easy did these cuttings take root! I am experimenting with a baxter’s micro tomato, a miniature white cucumber, several pods with lettuce, some ajvarski peppers, and some parsley as well.

Look at my progress so far!

Some of these plants will remain in the tower, others will be planted in soil so they can continue to grow and get ready for spring planting outside. I am so excited to see everything grow!
