Cooler weather is here and this means it is “Snert weather“! Pea soup is one of my favorite things! It is a super filling meal soup, and it is such a nice soup when the weather is a bit chilly. I fondly remember buying a cup of soup for a guilder in The Netherlands when iI used to go iceskating, and I recall my oma making a huge pot in a large gray stockpot. She used to stick a good sized slab of raw bacon in the soup and let it cook, then she would fish it out, cool it down and then slice it to serve on bread with a little mustard. I found a slab of bacon and was able to recreate my oma’s recipe. Enjoy!
