So imagine this….
You move into your new home, and then start getting used to it and settling in, you finally managed to cook a solid meal and you finally have enough dishes unpacked and used to do dishes, so you run the dishwasher…..
No, I was not going to lecture you about the fact that you should actually use your dishwasher to keep it working correctly because if you do not use it at least once a week, it can dry out the rubber seals. While this is true, this is another thing about our dishwasher specifically.
I ran the dishwasher and walked away from it while it was washing. I came back into the kitchen and was like why is the dishwasher open? Did my husband open it to save energy on drying? So I asked him, and he gives me a dumbfounded nope!
So, while I scuffed it up as a weird thing without explanation, I kind of forgot about it, and this is when I found out that I have a self-opening dishwasher. I am happy to announce that my dishes have not escaped and I have observed that it does not happen mid-cycle. Whew! It is kinda weird though!
What is even weirder though is that we were organizing and unpacking inside today due to the rain from Ophelia, and so we spent a ton of time in the family room. Apparently, the temperature dropped with the rain and I had walked out of the room, and into the bedroom, then to the kitchen, and I notice that the gas fireplace is going in the familyroom.
It was getting a bit chilly in the house so I was like wow, hubby is being all romantic and stuff turning up the ambiance on a dreary day.
Ha! Next thing I know, the man comes in saying oh! You figured out the fireplace! I looked at him with a deer in the headlights look saying umm I did not touch it, I thought you did!
So in addition to my self opening dishwasher, we also have a self igniting fireplace! This thing turns on when it hits a certain temperature! And it has lights in it! We had no idea!
I don’t know about you but this old style couple needs to get used to all these automatic processes! I was seriously starting to think that this place is haunted and was ready to sage my house!
