Long distance moves are the worst! We embarked upon a long dist ance move from Florida to Virginia. We did the same in reverse in. 2020, and those few years did not help us get any better at it!
I have additional challenges as I lost a ton of muscle strength due to several surgeries I had for breast cancer. My husband is getting a bit older too so that plays as well. We feel so absolutely and utterly blessed to be supported with this move by both our selling realtor and our buying realtor, they recommended some great people to help us move.
In Florida we used Jays EZ move to assist with loading. Becky Singleton from Watson Realty hooked us up with them. She is an amazing realtor and she is so sweet! Jay’s team loaded two packrat containers, a 20 ft box truck to move into storage in FL, a 20 ft box truck to drive to VA, and they will be loading another 20 or 26 ft box truck so we can take it to VA too.
Here in Virginia, our realtor from Major Key Real Estate, Arturo Seleme has been calling in two different crews to assist us with two separate loads. Both crews were absolutely fantastic! First, there was Roberto and his friend, and today we had Anthony and Oscar. Boy these guys can work! Even Arturo chipped in and helped!
On the real estate side, both Arturo and his wife and business partner Lane have been amazing in supporting us throughout this move process. It was such a challenge to find a home that was decent! With the market as it is today, the houses that sit are fixer uppers or overpriced, and homes that are priced correctly or really nice fly off the shelves like hotcakes so it is difficult to find a good match.
On the lending side things have been interesting… our interest is nearly three times higher than the interest rate on our old house. We will just pray that the rates will dip at some point! Joshua Tullis has been a rockstar in trying to get us the best loan possible and he really worked his magic with us!
They say it takes a village to raise a kid, well, the same applies to this move! We are so grateful!
We just set up our bed in the master bedroom, so there is no more sleeping on the floor! Yay! We are so beat and tomorrow is another day of unloading boxes but at least the heavy stuff is done!
Oh I forgot to mention, We are thinking of crowning the guest house has “the burger joint” because when we looked at this house the first time, there was a half eaten burger in the microwave still in as new condition, even though the house sat vacant. A month later we came back for our walkthrough and the like new burger was still there… the inspector had moved it to the oven instead!
I must say this burger really impressed me… whomever eats these burgers is so well preserved they will look like new even 500 years from now!
