In my last house, we redid the kitchen and I had a true chef kitchen with a very handsome and super nice kitchenaid appliance package, top of the line everything including a warming drawer, a smart oven, super fancy 6 burner gas cooktop, and everything was quiet and nice.

We just moved to a home that is much newer… this market is a super tough market to shop in, most nice homes are way out of range, or gone with a blink of an eye. This one had caught our attention because from a distance and from the pictures it looked like a nice home. Since we moved from Florida, we only saw it once briefly and we liked it, though with that said, when you look at houses, it is that quick impression kind of thing and you really do not truly know what you are buying until you really start living in the house, and using the appliances. As far as appliances concerns, me tell you, cash for clunkers should count towards appliances as well because wow, my dishwasher resembles somewhat of an angry chef where you do not know if he is actually throwing the dishes through the room or just trying to get attention, man that dishwasher is loud,…

I am so glad I brought my washer with me, it will be unloaded and installed this week! The washer that was left here sounds as if the serpentine belt on a car is just about to spin out of control..,,, oh and it is a top loader, which is not fun for vertically challenged me… envision your garden gnome sticking out of your top loader with just its feet sticking out… yeah that is me….

The microwave is not much better, it does have all options preloaded, though trying to heat up my leftover spaghetti took over 3 minutes,…kitchenaid is faster… Samsung wins the slow race…

The oven has a few nice options, though the manual is required because the options are pretty unclear and complicated. Apart from the oven being kinda dirty and the dustbunnies that are growing in the steam reservoir, I guess i will try it out and see how it goes. My kitchenaid oven was a smart oven and it has so many nice features to it. The only thing that kitchenaid ovens lack is a proper self cleaning feature,..the feature is there but you cannot use it. I blew up my oven using the self clean – twice! The first time accidentally, the second time after they fixed it because Kitchenaid said I should be able to use it since it is the only way to clean the oven. Well, a year after the second time it blew up, I received a new oven from Kitchenaid safety department… nonetheless, I love this oven because of its other features, and so i promised myself to go ahead and manually clean with dishwashing liquid, vinegar, and baking soda instead.

The stovetop, well, that thing is dangerous… it has this magnetic dial that you need to place and turn per burner, though the thing also works without the dial so i already accidentally turned on two burners right where I was not expecting a glow to appear…because the thing is sensitive,,. Can I tell you I cannot stand electric cooktops? Give me gas all day, any day. It regulates the temperature so much better!

My refrigerator has a good sized dent in the door, apparently this is ok.. my husband is going to try to use a dent puller to see if it comes out but to me, this thing may end up in the garage,… there are much nicer and better options out there,.., the icemaker sounds like an old grandpa that is trying to get out of his rocker…

Anyway, I guess the appliances match the rest of the kitchen, While kitchenaid may have their issues, as far as kitchen appliances concerns, they stick out with head and shoulders over Samsung. Samsung looks fancy but you may as well be buying hotpoint because it really is just nice looking trash. LG and Whirlpool/ Kitchenaid make much better products.

To Samsung: you can do better

To home builders: appliances are part of the business card of the quality of the home you built, you can do better too!

Tomorrow is another day. At this time, I am sitting in my bed, blogging and watching TV, and I will check tomorrow to see if my dishwasher switched places with the fridge and I will check to see if the washer took a walk down the driveway.

I do know that I am looking forward to some new appliances in my near future!
